چکیده
We prove that any 2-dimensional solution ψ ∈ W 1+ 1 3,3 loc of the eikonal equation has locally Lipschitz gradient ∇ψ except at a locally finite number of vortex-points. A related regularizing effect is also obtained for general solutions of the Burgers’ equation. Optimal Control of Light Propagation Governed by Eikonal Equation within Inhomogeneous Media Using Computational Adjoint Approach
A mathematical model is presented in the present study to control the light propagation in an inhomogeneous media. The method is based on the identification of the optimal materials distribution in the media such that the trajectories of light rays follow the desired path. The problem is formulated as a distributed parameter identification problem and it is solved by a numerical met...
متن کاملA fast marching algorithm for the factored eikonal equation
The eikonal equation is instrumental in many applications in several fields ranging from computer vision to geoscience. This equation can be efficiently solved using the iterative Fast Sweeping (FS) methods and the direct Fast Marching (FM) methods. However, when used for a point source, the original eikonal equation is known to yield inaccurate numerical solutions, because of a singularity at ...
متن کاملFirst-break traveltime tomography with the double-square-root eikonal equation
First-break traveltime tomography is based on the eikonal equation. Because the eikonal equation is solved at fixed-shot positions and only receiver positions can move along the raypath, the adjoint-state tomography relies on inversion to resolve possible contradicting information between independent shots. The double-square-root (DSR) eikonal equation allows not only the receivers but also the...
متن کاملA Third Order Accurate Fast Marching Method for the Eikonal Equation in Two Dimensions
In this paper, we develop a third order accurate fast marching method for the solution of the eikonal equation in two dimensions. There have been two obstacles to extending the fast marching method to higher orders of accuracy. The first obstacle is that using one-sided difference schemes is unstable for orders of accuracy higher than two. The second obstacle is that the points in the differenc...
متن کاملExtraction of the Intercellular Skeleton from 2D Images of Embryogenesis Using Eikonal Equation and Advective Subjective Surface Method
We suggest an efficient method for automatic detection of the intercellular skeleton in microscope images of early embryogenesis. The method is based on the solution of two advective PDEs. First, we solve numerically the time relaxed eikonal equation in order to obtain the signed distance function to a given set – a set of points representing cell centers or a set of closed curves representing ...
